The shop is a minute from the palace gate, hair styling included, and anyone in hanbok walks into Gyeongbokgung free.
The grounds are huge and barely labeled. A guide who can tell you what burned, what was rebuilt, and why turns the walk into an actual visit, and it covers the guard-changing ceremony.

Beyond Residence Jongno

It sits on the Wangsimni-ro corridor, so it is a straightforward ride back and you are next to Sindang for late food.
